A true Gentleman will miss his funny jokes & humour, always enjoyed having a beer with him you may have left us mate but we will never forget you. Cheers Gibbo.
I was saddened to hear the news about who I called Deny, I had the pleasure of working with Deny for many years in real estate in Warragul. I can remember clearly one day Deny and I were crossing the busy main road and my shoe came off, he said, stay there I will get it, as the cars were flying by he did manage to get my shoe but then with the laughter, dropped it in the middle of the road again where a car ran over it and squashed the shoe. I was without a shoe all day and I may say Deny was no help lol. We didn’t have a day without laughter and jokes, a fantastic bloke to work with and know. To all his family I send my heartfelt condolences to you all, another good guy taken to soon. rest easy Deny. Regards Kaye Dixon.

Great bloke so easy to talk to condolences to the Gibson family cheers Dennis RIP
Condolences to Jo & family. My name is John Lolas. I worked with Denis at Consumer Affairs for about 18 years during which I introduced him to the Old Mentonians Cricket Club where we played turf cricket. Denis played in a premiership team with me in 1977. He was a very good all rounder during his 55 games with the club. There was one game that stands out. In the opposing team there was a player with only one arm. This player came on to bowl & got Denis out. Denis was really upset. He walked off the ground, jumped into his car & drove home. Some 46 years later we planned a cricket club reunion and Denis was going to come but a about a week before the event, Denis rang to say that he had just been diagnosed with speech MND so he couldn’t make it.
Sincere condolences to Jo and all the family. Such a friendly, happy bloke! RIP Denis!
To Jo and family our sincere condolences with passing of Denis a good mate. DJ and I started work together in Housing at Morwell in 1966 and also had great times including football, cricket, and at the Nicholson River Caravan Park and Pub.
Our thoughts and prayers to the family RIP Gibbo.
Trevor and Barbara McDevitt
Thankyou Denis for being a great support and assistance when starting on my journey at Consumer Affairs in Melbourne.
A reminder lifes’ strings don’t last forever.
Condolences to the family. I worked with Gibbo at Consumer Affairs at 500 Bourke St and he was my boss at Dandenong Consumer Affairs late 80s early 90s. Denis was a good boss, a good bloke and very proud of his family, it was a privilege to have known and worked with him. It’s been said that Life has no opposite, like birth and death, the immortal soul goes on, and those who are still on this mortal coil carry you dear to their hearts. God Bless
RIP Gibbo.
Always had a smile and a good conversation.
Top man will be sadly missed.
Steve (Pommie).

My heart goes to Jo, Carly, Lisa and Joel and their families .. Jo you are an Angel.. u have always been there for everyone. I can understand why Denis loved you.. He will be missed but not forgotten xx
I will always remember when we were growing up Den would pay Tracey and myself 20cents for scratching his back.. I think it went up to 50 cents. . and when he would come home in his green panel van and I would go out and play Beatles and back then they were the thick cds. I loved sitting in his Car listening to some great music.
He loved his sports like Dad he surfed played footy, golf and cricket.
So sad to hear of an old schoolmate. Rip.
Deepest condolences to all the Gibson families. Every time we crossed paths Gibbo always in for a chat. RIP mate.
Farewell neighbour, rest peacefully..
We were neighbours for 17+ years.
You loved to have a chat when ever we were outside raking up those stupid leaves, or trying to work out how to “fix” the problem from over the road, or just to chat about how the fishing went. We always knew when the postie had been cos we’d hear you check the letterbox and boy did the lid clang ..you were a top bloke to have as a neighbour.
Our deepest sympathies to Jo, Carly, Lisa and Joel and the family.
Rest in Peace Dennis, Sad 4 UR family
On behalf of Nancy, Judi, Ian (dec) I would like to pass on condolences to the Gibson family from the Tattersons on the passing of Dennis.
Dennis was a great friend of my father and in recent years visited his mum Nancy, who is 102, often at 17 Peace Avenue, where she has lived since Dennis and Ian went to Primary School together.
Dennis’ kindness and care was much appreciated by Nancy and all of us. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing. RIP.
Regards,
Ben Tatterson
I worked with Denis at the Housing Commission in the early seventies and have been a friend of his for over 50 years. At his service today the first photo on the screen was a photo of “Gibbo” standing next to his ex Gas and Fuel green holden panel van. It was in this van that he and I did a road trip in October 1973 (after the footy season of course). We had two and a half weeks off work and headed to Perth via Alice Springs, Ayers Rock (we both climbed it), Coober Pedy, across the nullabor into Perth and then to Eneabba (where he knew someone from Warragul) and then drove home to Melbourne. A fabulous journey of over 10,000klms. This was my favorite memory of him and we had lots of laughs and a few too may beers on the way.
We (my wife Wendy and I) have visited Jo and Denis over the years and caught up with him when he was at his on site van in Nicholson. We aways had a laugh and as said today talked a lot of shit. We will miss him dearly and send our love to Jo and all his family.
Love Wendy and Garry Ball, Bairnsdale
