Vale David Bourke.
So very sad that you will not be at our annual Lechte/Harrison/Bourke Christmas celebrations at Officer. Thankyou for all your generosity and interesting stories over oysters and prawns and a light beer and lemonade. We will all miss you. With love – Gilly Lechte
Condolences to Di, Alister, Renee and their families. Remembering the happy times on the Gold Coast.
Halina Kay.
Thank you Halina – David enjoyed your and Trish’s company.
Our sincere condolences to the Harrison and Lechte families.
Over the years we got to know David over a number of Christmas dinners at the Lechte bush house at Officer.
In fact, Ian sat next to him at last Christmas’s event.
A quiet man but ever the gentleman.
We’ll raise a glass to him at the next Christmas table.
You were always a lovely part of the family, and I enjoyed looking to the head of the table to see you sitting in your usual spot. It will be strange with an empty chair there, but I know that you are still with us nonetheless.
Condolences to Di and Alister on the passing of David.

Uncle David you will be sorely missed.
We have many fond memories of spending time with you at Little Monomeith and up at the Gold Coast. You always had your finger on the pulse on what was happening around town, and were a book of local knowledge that we were always enthralled by.
As a fellow sweet tooth, I enjoyed sharing the occasional buffet lunch with you and searching for your hidden lollie stash as kids.
Rest easy up there and share a hug with Aunt Rock from us all.
Love Hamish
A good life well lived. Sympathy to the Bourke, Harrison and Lechte families
Very saddened to hear of David’s death, and my condolences to families BOURKE, HARRISON and LECHTE.
I have fond memories of him, going back some fifty years: always courteous, quiet and thoughtful, and having such remarkable knowledge of the horse.

My condolences to Di & Al., Paris, Gilly, Reneé & David, &Tate & Liz (plus anyone I’ve forgotten to add).
David was a true gentleman & such a lovely person. We went out on one occasion & he brought a big box of mushrooms which delighted Nell‼️I can still see him arriving at the front door of Albany Road & giving the mushrooms to my mother.
I think the photo of him in hunting gear on the horse is fantastic.
Vale dear David.
Helen
Dear Rob & Viv, I’m so sorry I left you both out of my earlier message! My condolences to you both at this sad time of David’s death. I hope you’re both well & life is kind to you.
Helen xx
We shared so many great memories together over the years, and you always made sure we had a good time whenever we visited you up on the Gold Coast. “Another day in paradise” was your regular call as we set off on adventures to the theme parks with you, Hamish and Dad. Making the most of the all-you-can-eat buffets was always a priority of yours, and Hamish and I loved nothing more than raiding your lolly jar filled with red raspberries while you rocked away in your favorite arm chair.
That chair now sits proudly in our lounge room at the farm, a warm reminder of those beloved times with you and Aunt Rock at little Monemeith.
Rest easy, mate.
Angus

Sorry we cannot be there in Victoria but we have fond memories of David and our time spent at Little Monomeith. David was always there in his green chair with a jar of liquorice allsorts never far away. I remember how courageous he was, catching the huntsman spiders in his hand or shoo-ing the magpies as they swooped. He always had a soft spot for the animals and loved listening to the wireless in the big shed. He will be missed by all.
David was always friendly and interested in what was going on. He was generous with his time when we visited him at the Gold Coast always willing to play tour guide and show us the best of ‘Paradise’.
David was a remarkable horseman, member of the Melbourne Hunt Club. His parents bought Herefords from Queensland, offloading them via rail at Monomeith rail station and walked the cattle to the farm, which had the best pasture in the district David grew up in the superb property which had an existing airfield on it Aileen his mother was an expert horsewoman at Royal show standard. The horses that David had were large, some 18 hands and were very good jumpers. David loved the country life with cattle. The original homestead at Monomeith remains
As a child I managed the leather work of the horse gear, cleaning and conditioning with neatsfoot oil.
David would drop it off or I would attend on site. what a remarkable heritage of a man of the land.
I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
