Formally, from SECAN, where Madge and Tom were our founding (and wonderful) patrons. She attended so many of our fledgling art exhibitions and encouraged us in our creative endeavours.
And personally, I will miss her generosity, friendship and quiet chats.
I always found Madge’s company, precious. A very gracious lady.
Sending all my love and big hugs to everyone

Condolonces and love to the Slattery family for the loss of your Dear Madge.
Madge was simply one of God’s saints on earth. She was always warm, funny, welcoming, kindly, wise, empathetic, compassionate, stern when she had to be, steadfast and true. She and Tom brought a robust vigorous and humorously down to earth vitality to everything they did, and embraced all visitors, fly-bys, friends, strangers, strays in their home and on their epic camping trips. I felt welcome in their house and home from the first night we arrived late in desperate need of hot coffee and stacks of toast. I will always cherish the fond memories I have knowing the Slattery family and I am so grateful to all of them for their generosity and hospitality over the years. I mourn Madge’s passing with you and offer you comfort and condolences in knowing how well and widely she was loved. In deepest sympathy and sorrow, Paul Hutchison
