Mary and I were very fortunate to visit dad in May for 10 days. Eric was the best dad and through his guidance and wisdom I have become the person I am today. Like any father son relationship we did not always agree but 99 times out of 100 he was right. Dad was a gentle man who’s dignity and the belief of doing the right thing for the community and family was how he lived your life. I cannot be there for the funeral but rest assured that I will be watching.
Mary and I will miss you mate

My sincere and deepest sympathies to all the Bumpstead families. I met Eric years ago as he was friends with my parents Barbara and Don Smedley. I also used to see Eric when I worked at the hardware stores. Always a well spoken gentleman. Rest in peace Eric I’m sure you will be sadly missed by all.
