  3. Almost 54 years ago, just after we returned from our honeymoon, Dawn & I met a lovely woman ” Joan Waterman “.
Joan became one of the family and every Friday night for many years, it was our night for Joan to visit. Joan saw our three children cook and was there for all the important events in their early years , Joan was ” Auntie Joan ” to them.
The one thing that stands out like a shining beacon in our lives, was the time Dawn & I had lost the deposit on a house we were hoping to buy and it looked like we would lose the block of land we were still paying for.
There was a knock on the door one evening ( it wasn’t a Friday ) Joan had come to visit with several hundred dollars , ” you have lost your deposit, you are not going to lose your land , you can pay me back when you can”. We still remember that night with deep emotion and affection. It took almost 2 years to pay Joan back and it shows the character of Joan Waterman.
When we moved to Western Australia, Joan still visited and whenever we returned to Melbourne , we made sure we visited Joan, the phone was handy and Birthday’s, Christmas were not forgotten. It was a pleasure to be in Melbourne to celebrate Joan’s 70 th Birthday.
Joan was a truly warm hearted, generous, loveable person, who loved her family unconditionally and valued her friends.
Dawn & I are greatly saddened with the passing of our longest and dearest friend

  4. We at Dandenong Southern Cross Care Victoria are missing Joan being around the place. Although only here at the Dandenong SCCV facility for a short time, Joan earned a reputation as being a welcoming, caring and friendly person who accepted people for who they were. Joan also came across as an intelligent and articulate woman. A model resident. R.I.P. Joan.
