  4. Our friend Jim also known as Martyar or Bubba by us. Ian knew Jim from an early age maybe 16 from memory. They used to hang out and go to the races. Kerran and I heard many stories about their racing times and the horses they won and lost on (mainly lost) and the antics they got up to…every time they told us a story about it they would laugh until they cried. I remember when we introduced Jim to Kerran and he was immediately smitten with her and they fell in love. When he met her children he immediately fell in love with them also. Jim adored those children and would do anything for them. Jim was a loving husband and friend to Kerran and a wonderful step father to Ben and Rachel. You could not ask for a step father to love those children as much as Jim did. He saw them as his own.
A wonderful friend who would do anything you asked – in fact you never had to ask, he just offered to do it. We had many many good times together going out. Lots of Saturday afternoons watching the races then going out for dinner that night We went to the harness racing a couple of times and one time we were in separate cars because we all had the children with us…. Jim never lived down that he took a wrong turn up a tunnel and we all laughed and laughed …we saw the little car go in and out of a tunnel that nobody used…he basically went into an unused tunnel…..he never lived that one down!
The times that Jim and Ian would laugh at something and couldn’t stop their laughing and nearly ending up choking until they went for a glass of water!

My children loved Jim..he always made them laugh…he had that ability to do so.

He could also be a stubborn bugger at times and he always put that down to being like his mother. This was when I would put the ‘Bubba’ word out to him. Ok bubba! But he would smile and say I am very proud to say I am my mother’s son!

The four of us were going to have a little bet and throw $20 in the middle and the last person standing would collect the money. Well mate you didn’t win this time but you did win your place in heaven! Until we see you again. Rest in Peace.
