Condolences / Guest Book

  1. To the greatest woman I have ever known. I don’t know where I would be without you. You were the best grandma that anyone could ever ask for, the selflessness you displayed and the manner in which you lived your life is something we will not see in our lifetime again. A true marvel that left an imprint on every heart you touched. One of the most universally loved people and for good reason.

The world was a far better place for having you in it.
I will cherish our memories and the best chance at life you imparted on me.

    I will love you forever.

  2. Aunty Shirley was the most amazing person we’ve ever known. She may not have had an easy life but she was always cheerful, positive and thrilled to see us whenever we visited. She never missed a birthday or anniversary phone call and was incredibly generous with her time. She always asked about our families when we spoke. She had an awesome memory and would love to share the family history with us. She knew everyone and had a story to match. Always fascinating. When I was little she would mind me on the school holidays just as she did with her own grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will miss her. Lyn and Michael.

  8. Aunty Shirley was the matriarch of our family and a truely inspirational role model she was to us all. I will be forever grateful for having her in mine and my family’s lives. She showed us graciousness, dignity, kindness, generosity, compassion and love. Always interested in our family and friends and what they all may be doing. Fond memories of our chatty lunches together, always cups of tea and a sweet, loads of photos and giggles…
Aunty Shirley, I will always treasure our times together. You unknowingly taught us all to be better people because of the beautiful kind woman that you were. We will forever ‘love ya lots’ Aunty Shirl.

  9. Dear Shirley,

I will deeply miss your caring nature, especially the way you would check in daily on how my dog Lola was doing. Your kindness and compassion extended to all the residents of Emerald Glades, where you truly shone as a beacon of positivity. Despite your loss of sight, you taught me the power of staying positive, persevering, and pursuing goals and you did it! You got to 100!!!! Rest in peace, dear Shirley, and my heartfelt love and condolences to your beautiful family

  11. Remembering my cousin Shirley for her love and kindness to me and our family. From the time our children were born she was so helpful to me and interested in them and then in their families. Shirley was a beautiful seamstress making clothes for her girls which our girls also enjoyed. She had a great knowledge of family history which she passed on to me.

Distance prevented many visits, but whenever we did get together, they were always special times.

Alec was able to talk to her about footy, she being a great fan of St Kilda. We will miss our phone chats.

    Until we meet again Shirley

In our hearts you will always stay
    Loved and remembered every day.

To live in the hearts and minds of those we love is surely not to die.

  12. Our beautiful Shirley… I cannot fully put into words how special you were. Your kindness for all and remembering each and every person whose path you crossed. Always thoughtful and helpful towards others, especially new residents moving in to help them settle. No understanding of the words feeling sorry for yourself or giving up. Those were not in your vocabulary. Just get on with it! I will miss hearing you say “Is that my Ali” when at Emerald Glades. And just miss you and your happiness and your smile. Well-deserved rest for you now, that is for sure. I will also miss seeing your family when they visit. I hope you are all doing as best you can at this time. Shirley sure did things her way… Never forgotten… Much love Ali xx

    • Yesterday I placed a phone call to Shirley and when she did not answer nor did the answering machine with Bronwen’s sweet voice activate, I felt in my heart that Shirley had passed from this earth to her Heavenly home. I found this to be so when I entered her name on the internet and saw the lovely tributes to this amazing lady.
I have been blessed to come to know my second cousin dear, kind and loving Shirley and her family when I “found” her in Australia while researching my maternal Shaw family. Through phone calls and letters I’ve dearly loved getting to know Shirley and her family and all of my cousins in Australia. Her spirit will live on in all who knew her and loved her. I will miss our phone visits and we are all the better for having had Shirley’s sweet presence in our lives. We will meet again. Rest in peace and may all who knew and loved her know that she is very much missed but thanking God for allowing her to be a part of all of our lives. God bless Bronwen, Belinda and their families and relatives far and near.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
May God bless all who loved Shirley so much with His peace that passes all understanding. Look for Shirley in all the beautiful things God has blessed us with ~~a flower, a towering tree, a rippling brook, a mountain, a vast desert, a chapel. a child, a baby, so many animals, a fluttering bird, a best friend or everything else that has been given to us and remember the joy of know Shirley who we all had the pleasure of having in our lives .
