Peter Andrew Backman embodied the best of qualities: unending determination to succeed in his many endeavours; a huge heart; a strength of spirit that allowed him to excel in many fields. Boxing and tattoos is only the start of a long list of his life’s accomplishments.
He earned the respect of many at a young age and that level of respect continued throughout his remarkable life: a man among men.
I always enjoyed his quick witted humour followed by his unmistakable cheeky grin.
His memory will live on, as it would be difficult to talk about the old days in Bentleigh without mentioning Backa.
To the Backman Family,
Extending my deepest sympathies for the loss of your husband/father and pop.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sorrowful time.
Thinking of you all. He was a true gentleman.
Awesome times from East Bentleigh days
