Ron, it was such a pleasure to have you part of my life . Ray thought the world of you, it’s no wonder he chose you to be our best man. I know that he will look after you as you continue your journey, he went ahead to find all the best prospecting spots. I’m happy to know Ray and you can catch up, and keep each other company. Give Christine a big hug. My love and thoughts are with Val and your family. Rest in peace Ron. Love Ellie
Thanks so much Ellie. Your words meant so much to me. They are together again and travelling the back roads of Australia. XX
I send my sincere condolences to Val and Family. As a kid I knew Ron as uncle Ron and I have so many fond memories of the Doherty’s at our place or us at the Doherty’s or Ron, My Dad and the fire truck that Ron pretty much built, at the North Warrandyte fire station.
RIP Ron.
Thanks so much. All of our family appreciate your kind words and I will never forget the many visits to your home when you were quite young………. Val Doherty
Our deepest condolences to Val Colin Wendy Melissa Adam Cassey and Brian.

Oh Ron mate. What a lifetime of shared adventures.
Being the Best Man at Jeanette and my wedding is a symbol of the best man you were throughout your life.
You being on foot in an orchard at Panton Hill as a wave of fire came over sure had me driving rough to pick you up. Scary moment.
And what a relief when you emerged from that solid ball of fire in the Dodge at North Warrandyte.
But mate I must apologise as it still worries me, about when I accidentally put my foot though the windscreen of your Chevy coupe when we sat in it in the main st of Eltham. Your parents barred us from seeing each other for a while. Don’t really know how it happened.
RIP Ken. (Curly)
One of God’s angels on earth.
It is a gift to cherish growing up with the Doherty’s and knowing them as “part of the family.”
There was always room for one more at your table, a spare bed, or shoulder to cry on.
Ron, you are forever the giant natured, caring and gentle man I also respected and looked up to.
Now is your time to enjoy eternity, be with Chrissy, and watch the family and community you, nurtured and supported.
Love and respect always
The “little one” Jayne.
