So glad I met with dear Thérèse the day before her scheduled operation. What a shock it was to learn she was not well enough to have the operation after all. I feel confident she would have been grateful for her wonderful family’s support. Looking forward to celebrating her life & all she gave to others. Pat Boyhan
I was so sad to hear of the death of Therese. With several other ex colleagues we met regularly for lunch in Berwick. She was very positive about her health the last time I saw her and even in a quick phone call recently.
The Black Summer Fires were devastating. CatholicCare had been given a very generous donation to help victims of these fires. I was driving up the highway to attend a meeting in Melbourne and wondering how I was every going to find such worker. HR rang during this contemplation. A certain Therese Kearney had rung and offered any help needed. An angel sitting on my shoulder!
Therese, very generously offered her service which included to travelling to remote fire affected areas providing support and a listening ear. She travelled 100’s of kms up and down mountains, and regularly (when not staying in Lakes Entrance) would arrive home very late at night and I am sure, exhausted. I worried about her like a mum worrying about her 18 year old getting their license!.
She was always positive and found ways of communicating with kindness and understanding.
Therese was a wonderful gift not only to those she supported but to CatholicCare as an organisation.
God Bless you Therese!.
Thank you so much Therese for your wonderful support after Black Saturday Bushfires. We were badly affected by the fires and Therese came into our lives, such a caring compassionate lady that became our saviour and dear friend. She spent a great deal of time with my family and I, I am just so sad to read she has passed away , she can wear those Angel wings with great pride, she definitely earned them.
Therese, you have left a huge hole in our hearts after hearing of your passing.
My mum and I would travel to Berwick to see you for counselling after the Black Saturday Fires. You spoke to us from the heart about everything to do with the fires. You told us in 2009 that 10 years later another fire will break out, you were right, the bunyip Ridge was on fire again. We listened to you, we took on board everything you said coz in 2019, I evacuated with my then 1yr old daughter. Thank you so much for the counselling that you gave to my mum and I, we thought of you often and will miss you.
Our condolences and sympathy to the family.
Therese, You were so much more than the Vice President of Berwick Evening VIEW club,We valued your friendship, your great sense of humour and your willingness to help with whatever was needed to fund raise for our sponsored children. You will be greatly missed by all of us.
On behalf of CatholicCare Victoria (CCV) I would like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution that Therese made to the lives of individuals and families impacted by the devastating east Gippsland bushfires in late 2019. Therese came on board with CCV to lead our initial response with immediate support and assistance and led the way for us to develop an innovative outreach and mobile response to devastated communities following her consultation about the emerging need in the community.
Therese had the experience, skill and compassion and genuinely appreciated this opportunity to support others. When she finished up due to focusing on her health (she was regularly travelling 5 hours to Orbost!) she said she found the role challenging and rewarding and thanked us for the opportunity it did to fulfil another amazing chapter in her life.
Thank you Therese for the amazing support and contribution you made to assist others.
My sincere condolences to her friends and family
Thankyou Therese for your friendship, love, and support . You will always be in my heart and memories.
Thérèse, you could move mountains in such a kind, gentle and spiritually generous way. I was always in awe of your ability to create the space for others to facilitate deep healing and to live life with meaning and purpose. I loved being T2 to you, T1. We had so much fun sometimes!!
Your legacy lives long and strong Thérèse. Rest in Peace x
My deepest sympathy to Therese’s family and all who loved her.
Therese was very special, compassionate, caring, funny, down to earth – a really wonderful lady.
Fondest memories.
We both want to express our condolences and respect to Therese’s family and friends at this time. We know Pat was a great friend of Therese for many decades and we trust that she and Pat have now met again in heaven. We know how much Pat valued her friendship and support. God bless you all. I&M
I’ve only known Therese for a relatively short time, but I felt honoured to get to know her when she joined our VIEW club. She was always smiling and laughing, and was full of cute stories and anecdotes. I don’t know that anyone else I’ve ever met could be said to be a greater pleasure to be around. She seemed so full of energy, ready to help in so many ways, even though I knew she was not a well person. She just never seemed to let it get in her way.
The service today was beautifully done, paying tribute to a life so very well lead. The personal stories were lovely to hear, and the music was just so beautiful. I do believe Therese was there with us, adding a touch of laughter so we wouldn’t feel so sad.
My heart goes out to her extended family, who I’m such will miss her tremendously. She was a true treasure. ♥️♥️♥️
Therese was a dear friend whom I got to know when principle at St Vincent’s Morwell East. She taught me so much as a special ed teacher. Therese introduced me to the ballet and lunch at Crown. Distance limited our meetings the last few years. Thank you dear friend for all the joy we shared. Rest at peace in God’s Loving arms. Pray for your friends still journeying here. Mary rsj
